It's free to lay out a field. To do so, click on the Shovel icon and place the field on any available spot on the map. The number of available spots depends on your town's population. The larger the population, the more fields you will be able to create. To increase your township's population, build more Houses.
Township Equation: The more happiness, the more population; the more population, the more fields; the more fields, the more products; the more products, the more extra coins. Thus, the more happiness, the more extra coins. Keep your residents happy to develop your dream towns. Decorate your town and build Community Buildings to increase happiness.
To sow an empty field, click on it or click on the Bag of Seeds icon to get into the Seed Shop, and choose the product you wish to grow. Seeds vary in the amount of time it takes for them to ripen. When they are ready for harvesting, click on the field and collect the crops. When you are done harvesting, the field has to be prepared for new seeds: click on it to plough it.
Tip: To sow a second and all consecutive fields with the same type of seeds, there's no need to go to the Seed Shop every time. You may simply keep clicking on the empty fields with the chosen crop.
All harvested crops find their way to the Storage. Here you can see what type of crops are available, as well as their quantity. You may also sell them from here for a decent profit. However, most of the crops can be processed at factories to become more valuable goods. To do this, build a Factory suitable for the type of crop you need to process. For example, to process wheat, build a Mill (the first type of building in the Factories tab). The flour you get after processing the wheat is a lot more valuable and brings greater profits. To start processing, click on a corresponding Factory and the necessary crops will find their way to the Factory from the Storage automatically. The end product will appear at the Factory after a certain period of time - don't forget to collect it!
Tip: The quantity of crops for sale can be regulated with the "+" and "-" buttons. Click on Sell to sell a particular crop. You may also sell all available crops by clicking on the "Sell All" button at the bottom of the Storage window.
Want to make your residents happy? It's simple - add Cafes and Shops, build Schools and Universities, open Theaters and TV Stations, and construct other great places that your residents will enjoy. Community Buildings increase happiness in your town and also provide you with extra coins. Aside from the profits you get from selling crops, you may also collect profits from these types of buildings. Note that they all vary in the amount of money they bring in and in the time it takes for them to generate profit.
To create a unique and architecturally diverse township, use the entire collection of Decorations available under the Decorate tab. Use the Roads and the Landforms tabs to select different options for building a diverse landscape.
Certain types of buildings require specific materials for their construction. There are 5 types of materials, one of which will become accessible as soon as you you restore the Plant. You can find the other four types of materials in your neighbors' townships, or by asking your neighbors to send you some. New materials appear every hour on your working Plant. When you collect construction materials from your friend's Plant, he/she will be able to receive them too in full quantity.
Every once in a while the Quests will pop up in the game. You will earn generous rewards for completing them - from Experience points to exclusive Decorations. You may view current quests by clicking on the Quest Book at the top of the screen.
You are rewarded for certain types of activities with either the Experience points or money. For example, you will get rewarded with a trophy for constructing a certain number of buildings. The full list of trophies is kept secret - try to earn them all!
Some of your Facebook friends are already playing Township. But unless they are your neighbors, they will not show up in your neighbors' list. In order to invite those of your Facebook friends who are already playing Township to become your neighbors in the game, go to the "My neighbors" tab located right above the gamefield. Each new neighbor will increase your daily bonus, as well as offer an opportunity to get more construction materials you might need for constructing advanced types of buildings.

To do this, click on the Store (Yellow Hard Hat) icon and choose the Town's Expansion tab. You will see the available options for expanding your territory.
